June is always a temperamental month in New England and Boston is certainly no exception to the rule. Bordered by twenty miles (giver or take five) of coastline, the city is largely affected by the Poseidon's mood; causing some days to be gorgeous while others are ugly. Spring came in strong for between May and the early part of June, though as of late the weather has been quite inclement. For the luck of my adventures, Poseidon's irascible behavior appears to subside when work is not in the forecast; leaving me the option of exploring the natural wonders of Suffolk County. The following photos are a glimpse at what has transpired in the last week and a half.
Mon., June 15, Sean, Kyle, Chuck and I decided to construct a garden bed in our backyard. A motley mix of onions, tomatoes and basil and carrots will be grown alongside several wildflowers and Sean's sunflower; Ruth.
Intending on making a trip to the Arnold Arboretum for a day of reading and relaxing, the real R&R, Chuck and I cut our route short to stop off at Jamaica Pond for a short time. Almost splitting the line between Jamaica Plain and Brookline, J-Pond presented itself to be an adequate replacement activity for the Arboretum. Clear water laps the edges of the nearly half-mile length of the pond and fishing is allowed, which means I'm due for a pole now. The park also casts a brief glimpse of the Prudential Center. A paved trail meanders around the circumference, shaded by trees and lined with plenty of park benches for R&R.
Some steals found during trash hunt Tuesday: Lionel Richie looking damn fine, "To Build a Fire" on L.P., "The Monkey's Paw," one Yes album, one "Saturday Night Fever" soundtrack and that is just to name a few of the records I managed to snag. The only problem is that I'm led to believe the Jah Rasta neighbor thinks I'm a vagabond. He committed to his spot on the stoop of his home while watching me riffle through the records he set out. Bare footed, gym shorts and a tank top, he must have marveled at how I managed a self-phone; never mind a record player.
A second peep at our garden in its formative state, which now includes lattice work or Cape Cod beach fence found during trash hunt Tuesday.
